Gunduz
Jem Kalic is
a theatre director and acting coach interested in the re-making of theatre
as a raucous and irreverent popular art - as a meeting place for "all
the people", in playwright Arthur Miller’s words. Towards this end, over the past two decades, in Australia,
Canada, The Netherlands and the UK, Kalic has developed a practice of
theatre centred upon the reinvigoration of the actor as "player".
Artistic
Director of Taking Liberties Theatre Company and curmudgeonly
writer of occasional newspaper columns, Kalic is also preoccupied with
and concerned at the usage of theatre in commerce and politics, a phenomenon
that became commonplace in the twentieth century. See also More
on GJ Kalic and Patron Saints.
