Welcome to our newspaper column and magazine article archives!

This collection of writings by Gunduz Kalic (co-written with Ian McNish) includes both "solemn warnings" and satires that reflect Taking Liberties' concerns.

1) the way public arts funding perpetuates boring, apolitical theatre paid for by everyone but made (mostly) to the taste of a narrow segment of the population. See Arts Policy.

2) the usage by politicians and elites of techniques of performance adapted from theatre, the better to con and manage the population. See Politics.

3) the widespread usage of theatricality outside of theatre as a tool of commerce and form of culture, of which people are generally unaware - or are little concerned about. See Culture.

Please note that as content overlaps, so some articles appear in more than one of the three archives.
